He's home!!!!

My mutly is home from the vets much better and even pestering me as I type to play with his squeaky dinosaur. Now we just have the fun of getting him to take his pills.......favorite method last time was to hide them in some soft cheese but he's wise to that now and won't touch cheese anymore!

any suggestions welcome.

So glad he's home!

Not many suggestions re the tabs I'm afraid. I always put Spots on her dinner - she eats so fast she doesn't even know they're there, but I know that many dogs manage to eat around them! - Hope you find a solution!

Poor poochie. I hope he gets better quickly.

No suggestions from me either. I've only had experience of dosing a cat with pills, and still have the scars to prove it!

yayyyyyyy!!!!!!! I'm so glad he's better!
I just shove any tablets to the back of scoobys throat and tip his head up, and rub his neck till he swallows???!!!! He's usually pretty compliant though:-)

Enjoy the squeaky dinosaur!

DS uses that thin-cut chicken or ham and makes a little package with the tab in the middle. That works even for the cats.

Good luck with the pills! We usually use hot dogs cut up into little chunks. We toss a couple to the dogs to gulp down before the one with the pill then follow up with a couple more.

What dog doesn't like to eat a whole hot dog!?

Delighted he's home, after all the stress and worry of last week. My daftie still falls for the wee lump of cheddar with pill in the middle ... the other prefers Yarnfanatics method with the sliced chicken or ham. Actually ... they will usually take anything if they think it will stop the other getting a treat:) Just like kids, eh???

Pleased your pooch is home safe and well. My labs are much less fussy with food =I did what you did with the cheese. I've resorted to force before now, like the other Terri - which is mean but does the job ie hold dog firmly between knees while saying lots of lovely things, tip head back and put pill as far back down throat as poss - stroke throat then offer tasty treat immediately - effective but not nice to do - you get covered in drool!
You were talking about the expense of vet bills? A friend who has a second home in Turkey ended up adopting a turkish stray and bringing her back to England - now that was really expensive (6months quarantine kennel fees!)

Glad your dog's home. We used to bury pills for the cat in their food. We had to do that in another room 'cos they got very suspicious if they saw us messing with their grub.

I know this is really late, but peanut butter. Put a blob of peanut butter in his bowl and bury the pill in it. They lick it right up and the peanut butter sticks so they can't spit it out.
